No7 Tinted Moisturiser

Hello

Today I thought I would talk about my most reached-for base product of the moment; the No7 Tinted Moisturiser in "Fair". I would like to point out that I am the palest of the pale (read: ghost face) and struggle getting a good colour match with highstreet products, but this is a perfect match.

I used to use the original version of this when I was in high school because it was subtle and stayed put all day. As I got older I found I needed something heavier to cover my unruly skin. Gradually my skin has got better so when I was in Boots I thought I would see what the new version is like.

Boots describe it as "natural, skin perfecting Tinted Moisturiser is the perfect all season solution and the first to have 5-Star UVA protection. The newly upgraded 5-star Triple Protection Tinted Moisturiser combines the power of:
  • 5-Star UVA technology
  • SPF15
  • Our patent-oxidant complex
...to give your skin advanced protection from the sun and environment.
It also contains Hyaluronic acid, to provide 24-hour moisturisation, optical blurrers and vitamin A and E, all in a lightweight creamy texture to leave skin looking and feeling radiant."

Now this all sounds very technical and it definitely gives a radiant look to the skin without being shiny, has great staying power and is very lightweight and easy to apply and blend. This tinted moisturiser is perfect for Summer in my opinion as it won't melt off your face (never a good look) and doesn't really feel like you are wearing makeup.

Left: From tube. Right: Blended.

It is £11.50 for 50ml which is quite reasonable. I have had my tube for about 2 months now and haven't really made a dent in it. I wear this every day for work and most weekends which is a first for me because I get bored quite easily and want to try the "latest innovation".

Do you use anything from the No7 range? Are you a fan of tinted moisturisers or are you more of a foundation girl?

Clinique Turnaround Concentrate

Hello

Hooray for it being the weekend! I am meeting my friend for lunch today but thought I would do a quick post before I start getting ready.

Here we have the Turnaround Concentrate from Clinique:

This is described as an exfoliating serum designed to give a brighter, more even and radiant complexion.

Once you apply this you can feel it working straight away, my skin always feels baby soft after using. One of my (many) skincare issues is the texture of the skin on my forehead, it is quite uneven and can show through my makeup. So instead of just slapping more makeup on I use this to treat the problem.

I don't personally feel that it helps spots clear faster or anything like that it is just more for the luminosity that it brings to the skin. The lady at the counter said that you can apply a thicker layer before you go to sleep as an overnight mask if your skin is really troubled.

The Turnaround Concentrate is £33 for 30ml so quite expensive, I doubt I would repurchase because of the high price point.
Here we have Karl trying to play with the camera, silly bunny

Do you use any Clinique products? What do you recommend for a brighter complexion?

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo

Hello

Happy Friday eve ^.^

Today I will be talking about La Roche-Posay's Effaclar Duo:

I originally bought this after reading a blog post (I can't remember who's sorry!) as it is for "corrective and unclogging anti-imperfection care", which is just me all over really. Effaclar Duo is also 100% hypo-allergenic and non-comedogenic so is perfect for even the most sensitive of skin.

It smells like lemons and is quite lightweight and easily absorbed. Once applied to the skin it feels quite tingly which I like because I assume that it is working. I use this in an evening after cleansing and toning, but it does say that you can use morning as well if you feel so inclined. I can see an improvement after using this so I will continue to do so and will be repurchasing once my tube runs out. The price is £13 for 40ml but a little goes a long way.

Here is a picture of Karl chilling after eating a big tea! It's a hard life for him

Have you used anything from La Roche-Posay? Or anything for clogged skin with imperfections? Please leave any recommendations in the comments box as I am always on the hunt for new things :)

Sanctuary Hot Sugar Scrub

Hello

I thought today I would talk about the Sanctuary Hot Sugar Scrub.

This isn't something that I would buy for myself usually - my boss actually got me this for Christmas. I'm glad she did though because I absolutely love it, it has the usual Sanctuary fragrance and this product is described as a "thermal scrub for deeply cleansed and super-refined skin", I would agree with this as my skin always feels so soft and lovely after using. It is quite a strange feeling at first as it contains thermal zeolite to create the warming sensation. The scrub also contains detoxifying kaolin clay to draw out impurities while the sugar sloughs away dead cells.

This isn't something I would necessarily repurchase as it is £11.50 for a 550g tub and is one of those things that isn't absolutely essential. That being said I have had this for 5 months now and I am about half way through the tub but I don't use this all the time, just when my skin is playing up. This would be lovely as part of a gift for someone though or if you fancy something a bit different.

Have you tried anything from the Sanctuary range? What are your favorites? Thank-you for reading and please feel free to leave a comment :)

REN Clearcalm 3 Clarity Restoring Mask

Hello

On a Friday after work I like to have a bit of a pamper night and generally relax! I've had quite a hectic week at work with meetings with the bigwigs and two exams on Thursday. I cannot wait until this NVQ is over honestly.

One of the main features of a pamper night for me is a lovely hot bubble bath and a face mask. As I suffer from oily skin prone to breakouts then this is the one I reach for most often.

The directions say leave on for 15 minutes but I usually just leave it on until I can feel it hardening (about 30 minutes). I have never had an adverse reaction so I don't really think it matters.

I don't really know what is going on with my hair and general face in this picture but here we have the mask in action:

The actual dispenser is a pump so very hygienic without any waste of product. It is quite a thick clay based mask which is designed to absorb sebum, reduce pore size and calm the skin overall.

My main gripe with this is that the smell is quite off-putting, like sulphur. In other reviews I have read people find it just smells medicinal, but for me it is a lot stronger!

I can get over the smell though for the fact that it actually works, my skin produces less oil and feels really smooth but not dry. Coming in at £30 for 50ml it isn't cheap but if you do suffer with problematic skin then I think it is worth investing in skincare that does the job.

As always thanks for reading and please leave a comment, it really makes my day :)

Bit of a festive picture of Karl there, this was taken on Christmas day hence the wooden turkey and cracker :)

Essie Tart Deco

Hello

I thought I would share with you today one of my much-loved Essie nail polishes. This shade is 74 Tart Deco and I would describe this as a warm summery coral.

I decided to wear this shade today as I have two exams and thought this would cheer me up! So far it is working :).

In the image above I have used two coats of Tart Deco followed by a top coat for extra shine. I find that the wear time on Essie polishes is around 5 days which is good for me seeing as I work on a computer.

These polishes retail at £7.99 for 13.5ml which is pretty standard and in my opinion worth the money.

Here is your daily dose of Karl, he is trying to make me feel guilty for putting him away after play time! It's working :(

As always thanks for reading and please leave a comment to let me know what you think :)

Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter

Hello

I am relatively new to the Soap and Glory range but decided to treat myself when the huge "Best of All" gift set was on offer just before Christmas (£27 instead of £60, don't mind if I do!) and I am so glad I did.

I think the first thing that people think of when it comes to Soap and Glory is the packaging as it is so distinctive. I for one am a sucker for nicely presented products so it was only a matter of time really.

One of my favourites out of the set was The Righteous Butter which is targeted to very dry skin. It is so thick and luxurious that it is an absolute delight to use. The smell is quite strong but not overpowering, and is the classic Soap and Glory smell which consists of bergamot, peach, vanilla and sandalwood to create the "Pink" fragrance.

I usually moisturise in the evening after a bath or shower so I'm not rushing as this can take quite a while to absorb. I can still smell this on my skin in the morning so it certainly has staying power!

The price for the 300ml tub is £10.50 and the price for the 50ml tub is £2.50. I actually have both as people know I am obsessed with moisturisers and body butters so I usually get a good variety for birthdays and Christmas!

The little tub is perfect for travel, I took this to Paris for a few days and I barely made a dent in it. As this is a quite reasonable price then you don't need to apply it sparingly.

I can't recommend this enough and for £2.50 for the travel pot I would urge you to try it!

Here is your daily dose of Karl

Avon Ideal Flawless BB Cream

Hello

I hope everyone is enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend! I'm having quite a quiet one, I went to meet a few friends for lunch yesterday but that's about it, although we are planning to do a few bits and bobs round the house tomorrow.

I thought today that I would talk about the new BB cream from Avon. I actually have quite a lot of Avon products in my stash even though I'm not a huge fan of their base and skincare products, my Godmother is an Avon lady and always recommending things though!

Anyway, onto the actual BB cream. This is only the second BB cream that I have tried (I know, I know, late to the party as always) and the main reason I bought it was because that it is SPF 15 and promises a "breathable" feel on the skin. I hate bases that feel heavy on the skin so I thought this would definitely be for me. It comes in six shades: Ivory, Natural Beige, Medium Beige, Nude, Shell and Nutmeg and costs £12 for 30ml. I chose the lightest shade (Ivory) as I am literally the palest person ever.

Upon application I found that the colour was far too dark for me and looked kind of orange-y, never a good look and really highlighted the dry patches and pores that I have on my nose. The coverage is only light and doesn't feel like you are wearing any makeup but because of the poor finish it isn't something that I can wear. I usually apply Bare Minerals Mineral Veil over any base product and with most things it gives a perfect finish, but even that couldn't redeem this I'm afraid.

Below is a comparison of the left hand with the BB cream, and the right hand without. I was going to show how it looks on my face but I am feeling quite ropey and didn't want to frighten anyone off!

It feels quite strange doing a negative review but I do think that it is important to show the good and the bad and to be honest about these things.

Thanks for reading and here is a daily dose of Karl

Revlon Lip Butters

Hello

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend, I went to the Trafford Centre today for some lunch and shopping, and finally got my hands on the Revlon Lip Butters.

First of all I would like to apologise for the photo quality on some of the images, I roped my husband in and we are quite new at this!

The three shades that I bought are 096 Macaroon, 090 Sweet Tart and 053 Sorbet.

The first thing that attracted me to these is that they are much more moisturising than a traditional lipstick. I struggle with normal lipsticks as my lips can be quite dry and the product clings in patches (nice).

The first thing I do before applying a lip product is to exfoliate with something like this. For application I used two swipes to get my desired colour density. I think that you could build them up more but I prefer a more subtle look for everyday as I work in a hospital environment.

Macaroon
 Sorbet
 Sweet Tart

My favourite shade is Sweet Tart, although the above picture really doesn't do it justice (again apologies for the poor camera skills!) The finish that you can see on the Sorbet picture is the same for them all, nice and glossy without being sticky.

I don't think that these lip butters have a particularly long wear time, I would say around 2 hours max, but as they are so easy to apply you can definitely do so on the go.

The packaging is quite basic but I do like the quilting effect on the lid, it makes them look more expensive in my opinion!

For the price of £7.99 each I do personally think they are worth it, especially as they are on 3 for 2 at Boots at the minute.

Have you tried any of the Revlon Lip Butters and can you recommend any more shades? Please feel free to leave a comment :).

Thanks for reading and have a lovely evening.
Love

Kayleigh
